John McCain is voting against Trump’s nomination for White House budget chief

“Under most circumstances, I always give the benefit of the doubt to the incoming president … so it is with great reluctance that I came to the floor of the Senate to rise in opposition to the nomination of Mick Mulvaney,” McCain said, who accused Mulvaney of trying to “torpedo” Senate attempts to increase defense spending.
“[He] has spent his last six years pitting the national debt against our military,” McCain said.
This is the first Trump Cabinet appointment that McCain has voted against. Republicans can now only afford to lose one more vote before Mulvaney’s nomination is put in jeopardy.
