A petition calling for an investigation into voter suppression in the Arizona primary has 100,000 signatures, requiring an official White House response. Even though the petition’s creator set a deadline of April 21 to reach the 100,000 signature goal, the petition went viral, reaching 100,000 in less than 48 hours.
The petition demands the Obama Administration investigate the irregularities prevalent throughout Arizona on Tuesday night, particularly in regard to the untold thousands of registered Democrats who showed up in precinct databases as independents or members of third parties, meaning they could only vote on provisional ballots that aren’t actually counted. Because Arizona is a closed primary state, only voters registered as Democrat, Republican, or Green are guaranteed to be counted in the final vote.
Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton, who is the chair of Maricopa County’s largest city, where voters stood in line for up to five hours, has also called for an official Department of Justice investigation into the Arizona primary. Sen. Bernie Sanders called the process a “disgrace,” and his campaign manager, Jeff Weaver, has cast doubt on the results given the irregularities that plagued the voting process.
If any foul play is confirmed, the petition signatories are calling for those responsible to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
As US Uncut previously reported, Kelly Thornton, a poll worker in Yavapai County, said in a phone interview that two-thirds of voters at her precinct were given provisional ballots, including a man who left the precinct to go home and retrieve documentation that he was a lifelong registered Democrat. Thornton was given a script by the Yavapai County Recorder’s office confirmed that ballots cast by voters registered as independent would not be counted.
No official explanation has been given as to why these registered Democrats showed up in county voter databases as independents.

Petition to have the Obama Administration investigate the voter fraud and voter suppression on 3/22/2016 in ARIZONA. Numerous voters who switched from Independent to Democrat could not vote and were turned away or given provisional ballots which in turn were never counted. We the people of the United States of America find this act alarming and would like a complete investigation to uncover the violations that occurred during the Arizona voting on 3/22/2016 and prosecute those responsible to the fullest extent of the law.
