Ron Howard shreds Trump fans’ hypocrisy over Streep: Trump was a reality show star spewing birther lies

Oscar-winning director Ron Howard exposed the hypocritical behavior of President-elect Trump’s loudest supporters in just a handful of tweets.

Howard took umbrage with the barrage of angry tweets from Trump voters directed at Meryl Streep, who gave a thunderous condemnation of Donald Trump during her Golden Globes acceptance speech on Sunday night. Howard directly challenged Trump supporters who told Streep to stick to the entertainment industry and not discuss politics:

Howard pointed out to one Twitter user who said Meryl Streep was ignorant of “the facts” that Trump is frequent to play fast and loose with the facts, like he did with his numerous tweets promoting the false conspiracy theory that President Obama wasn’t born in the United States. He also urged the incoming president to act “presidential” and not turn the presidency into professional wrestling.

Always a class act, Howard hoped sincerely for the success of the coming administration, and asked Trump to “pleasantly surprise” the skeptics with responsible government, and be elected to another term because of it.

As of this writing, Trump hasn’t yet responded to Howard’s tweets. Knowing the President-elect’s pattern, it’s unclear whether or not he’ll let Ron Howard’s tweeting go unanswered.
